Angles are everywhere and most everyone knows what they are. An angle measures the amount of a turn. As seen above there are many different types of angles. As the angle changes so does the names. Most of us recognize a right angle but can you identify an acute angle?
Acute Angle | an angle that is less than 90° |
Right Angle | an angle that is 90° exactly |
Obtuse Angle | an angle that is greater than 90° but less than 180° |
Straight Angle | an angle that is 180° exactly |
Reflex Angle | an angle that is greater than 180° |
Be Careful What You Measure
Obtuse Angle | Reflex Angle |
The lines are the same ... so when naming the angles make sure that you know which angle is being asked for. |
I was thinking of all this information about angles and I feel that this information needs to be review briefly every year. I know once I learned this information I don't believe we reviewed it very much.
Now I am not sure if that is even possible with the time we need to get ready for testing. Maybe having a clearly identified poster with this information.
I don't know if it would work but it is just a thought.
